Pasionaye Nguyen, the mother of rapper Tyga, passed away at the age of 53 on January 18, 2025, as confirmed by Tyga in an Instagram post on Friday. The cause of her death has not been disclosed, though reports suggest she had been battling an illness.
In his tribute, the 35-year-old rapper wrote, "Can’t imagine life without you by my side. You were the best and most supportive person in my life, you always made things better when I felt at my lowest and worst."
Who Was Pasionaye Nguyen?
Born in 1971, Pasionaye Nguyen was of Vietnamese descent and raised her son, Tyga, as a single mother in Compton, California, after separating from his father, Michael Stevenson, due to his legal troubles. She led a private life but occasionally appeared in the public eye, including a memorable moment in 2014 when she humorously recited lyrics from Tyga's song "Rack City" on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
In a 2014 interview, when asked about Tyga’s relationships, she said, "As long as Michael's happy, I am happy." Tyga has often spoken about his mother’s sacrifices, expressing, “When I was growing up, I didn't know about the problems my mom had. She always made sure that I was good, I was happy."
