Paul Stirling, born on 3 September 1990, is an Irish cricketer renowned for his explosive batting and occasional off-spin bowling. He plays as an opening batter for the Ireland national cricket team and is one of the leading run-scorers in T20 internationals. Stirling was part of the historic Ireland team that played their first-ever Test match against Pakistan in May 2018. In 2020, he was appointed as the vice-captain of the national team and later became Ireland's permanent limited-overs captain in 2023.
Early Career
Stirling's cricketing journey began in 2008 when he debuted in first-class cricket for Ireland in the Intercontinental Cup. Later, in 2009, he made his ODI debut. Having played for the youth teams and the Second XI of Middlesex, Stirling secured a full contract with the club in December 2009. A month later, Cricket Ireland also awarded him a contract, making him one of the first players with full-time contracts.
Contracts with Middlesex
Stirling signed a three-year deal with Middlesex County Cricket Club in December 2009, joining Eoin Morgan at the club. His consistent performances for Ireland earned him the contract, and he debuted in List A cricket for Middlesex in 2011. Stirling had a remarkable 2011, finishing as Middlesex's leading run-scorer in one-day competitions and achieving a century against Derbyshire.

International Career
