Rihanna Issues First Statement After A$AP Rocky Found 'Not Guilty' In Shooting Trial: "Thankful And Humbled By God's Mercy"

Rihanna Releases First Statement After A$AP Rocky's 'Not Guilty' Verdict in Shooting Trial: "Grateful and Humbled by God's Mercy"

A$AP Rocky, born Rakim Mayers, was acquitted of all charges in his assault trial after a three-week court process. The rapper had been accused of shooting at his former friend, Terrell Ephron (also known as A$AP Relli), in Hollywood, California, in 2021.

Upon hearing the verdict, a joyful Rocky leaped into the audience to embrace his long-time partner, Rihanna, who had been by his side throughout the trial.

Shortly after, Rihanna shared her first public statement. On Instagram, she expressed, "The glory belongs to God and God alone. Grateful. Humbled by His mercy."

A$AP Rocky, in his statement to the jury, thanked them, saying, "Thank y'all for saving my life." The jury, made up of 12 members (five men and seven women), declared Rocky not guilty after careful consideration of the evidence.

During the trial, Rocky did not testify in his defense. He had previously rejected a pre-trial plea deal, which would have resulted in a six-month sentence, choosing instead to face the possibility of up to 24 years in prison.

After the verdict, he joined Rihanna and his family outside the courthouse, expressing relief, "I'm thankful and blessed to be here right now, to be a free man talking to y'all."

The trial captured widespread attention, not only for the legal proceedings but also for Rihanna's unwavering support in the courtroom. On February 13, she attended the closing arguments with their two children.

Rocky had been facing two felony assault charges linked to a shooting incident outside the W Hotel in Hollywood on November 6, 2021. During a confrontation on Hollywood Boulevard, Rocky allegedly pointed a gun at Ephron’s head and stomach, with Ephron claiming that a bullet grazed his hand.

Ephron, along with Rocky and others, was part of the A$AP Mob, a New York-based rap collective founded in 2006 by the late Steven Rodriguez (A$AP Yams), known for its mix of rappers, music video directors, fashion designers, and bikers.
