LaVar Ball Has Right Foot Amputated After 'Serious Medical Issue'

LaVar Ball, father of Hornets guard LaMelo Ball, Bulls guard Lonzo Ball, and former NBA player LiAngelo Ball, has had his right foot amputated following a "serious medical issue." TMZ Sports reported on Wednesday, February 19, that LaVar recently underwent the procedure.

Sources revealed that despite the surgery, LaVar remains in great spirits and is recovering well.

At 57, LaVar is known for his bold approach to marketing his children, having raised a successful family alongside his wife, Tina.

Lonzo Ball, after a year at UCLA, was drafted second overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2017 NBA Draft. He earned a spot on the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in 2018. In 2019, Lonzo, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and four number-one picks were traded for Anthony Davis. Later, he was traded to the Chicago Bulls, his current team.

LiAngelo Ball, after brief stints with the Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Hornets, has found success as an emerging rapper. Using the stage name “Gelo,” his viral hit “Tweaker” led to a record deal with Def Jam and Universal Music Group worth $8 million, with potential earnings of up to $13 million as of January.

LaMelo Ball was selected third overall by the Hornets in the 2020 NBA Draft. He was named NBA Rookie of the Year in 2021 and became an NBA All-Star in 2022. This season, he is averaging 27.3 points per game.

LaVar is currently the CEO of Big Baller Brand and previously played on the practice squads of the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers, though he never saw action in an NFL game.
