Premio Lo Nuestro 2025: Shakira, the Night's Biggest Winner with Six Awards, Followed by Carin León with Five

Shakira was the standout winner at the 37th edition of Premio Lo Nuestro, held this evening at the Kaseya Center in Miami, taking home 6 awards out of the 9 she was nominated for.

The Colombian singer, currently on her Las Mujeres ya no Lloran tour in Brazil and Peru, was not present at the ceremony as she performed at the Estadio Metropolitano in Barranquilla. However, she won in multiple categories, including Album of the Year for Las Mujeres ya no Lloran, Crossover Collaboration of the Year for “Puntería,” Female Pop Artist of the Year, Pop-Urbano Album of the Year, Pop-Urbano Collaboration of the Year, and Mexican Music Collaboration of the Year for her collaboration with Grupo Frontera, “(Entre Paréntesis).”

Shakira expressed her gratitude in a video message from Barranquilla, saying, “Thank you so much for this award, I am deeply moved to receive the Album of the Year recognition. This album represents years of hard work, sweat, tears, and countless experiences, and I’m so appreciative of this acknowledgment.”

Although she couldn’t attend due to her ongoing tour, the production aired a video of Shakira from the stage of Las Mujeres ya no Lloran as the night’s top winner.

Shakira will continue her tour with upcoming performances in Colombia, including a show on Sunday, February 23, at Medellín's Atanasio Girardot Stadium, and on February 26 and 27 at Bogotá’s Estadio El Campín. She’ll then head to Chile, Argentina, and Mexico before wrapping up in the U.S. and Canada in May and June.

The night's top nominee, Carin León, won five of the 10 awards he was up for, including Song of the Year - Tropical for “Una Vida Pasada” with Camilo, Male Artist of the Year - Mexican Music, Song of the Year - Mexican Music for “Primera Cita,” and Album of the Year - Mexican Music for BOCA CHUECA, VOL., the same album that earned him a Latin Grammy and a Grammy Award.

Meanwhile, fellow Colombians Karol G and Camilo each earned four awards. Karol G was absent but took home honors in Artist of the Year - Premio Lo Nuestro, Song of the Year for “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido,” Female Artist of the Year - Urban, and Album of the Year for Mañana Será Bonito (Bichota Season). Camilo, who attended and performed, received The Perfect Mix of the Year, Song of the Year - Tropical for “Una Vida Pasada,” Collaboration of the Year - Tropical, and Tropical Album of the Year for Cuatro.

Musical performances kicked off with actor and singer Will Smith, who teamed up with Spanish singer India Martínez to perform their new song “First Love.” DJ Khaled, Thalía, and Miami Sound Machine kept the energy high with a performance of “Miami,” welcoming the audience and millions of viewers watching via Univision and ViX streaming.

The first award of the night, presented by Michel Brown and Angélica Vale, was Album of the Year - Tropical, which went to Camilo for Cuatro. Camilo thanked his “Tribu,” wife, and Colombia for the cultural influences that shaped his music.

A poignant moment came when Laura Pausini presented a tribute to the late Paquita la del Barrio, with the Aguilar family—Pepe Aguilar and his children, Leonardo and Ángela—performing to honor the iconic Mexican artist.

Other performances included Reik’s acoustic debut of “Mientes,” Silvestre Dangond and Emilia’s collaboration “Vestido Rojo,” and a lively set by Guaynaa and Venesti. Becky G delivered an emotional performance of “Querido Abuelo,” dedicating it to her late grandfather.

Marc Anthony took the stage with Piso 21 and Beéle for a performance of “Volver,” while Alejandro Sanz joined Grupo Frontera for their new collaboration “Hoy No Me Siento Bien.” Álex and Camila Fernández paid tribute to their father, Alejandro Fernández, who later performed some of his greatest hits and received the Premio Lo Nuestro a la Excelencia for his remarkable career and contributions to Mexican culture.

Other notable performances included Natti Natasha’s debut of “Desde Hoy,” and a tribute to Manuel Alejandro, who was honored as the Visionario de lo Nuestro. The legendary composer, with a career spanning decades and a legacy of timeless hits, was celebrated with performances of his iconic songs by Laura Pausini, Alejandro Sanz, Carin León, Niña Pastori, and Edgar Barrera.

The ceremony was filled with emotional moments and unforgettable performances, celebrating the best in Latin music and honoring those who’ve shaped its rich history.
