Two Dead in Mid-Air Collision Between Aircraft in Arizona

At least two people were killed in a mid-air collision between two small planes near Marana Regional Airport in southern Arizona on Wednesday morning. The planes collided just outside of Tucson, resulting in the deaths of both individuals aboard each aircraft, according to federal air-safety investigators.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) reported that, based on preliminary information, one of the planes landed safely, while the other crashed near a runway and erupted in flames.

This incident follows another recent aviation disaster in Washington, DC, in late January, when an American Airlines flight collided mid-air with a military Black Hawk helicopter.

The Marana Police Department confirmed the two fatalities after responding to the crash.

In a separate incident in Arizona last week, a plane veered off the runway in Scottsdale, hitting a business jet and killing one of the two pilots aboard, including the private jet owned by Vince Neil of Motley Crue.

Recent Aviation Disasters in the US

This marks the fourth major aviation disaster in North America within the past month. The most recent involved a Delta Airlines jet that flipped onto its roof while landing in Toronto.

In Alaska, a regional airline flight crashed off the coast of western Alaska, killing all 10 people on board. The bodies were recovered and identified hours after the crash.

In another deadly incident in late January, a collision between an American Airlines flight and an Army helicopter in Washington, DC, claimed the lives of 67 people, making it the deadliest US aviation disaster since 2001.

Just a day later, on January 31, a medical transport plane carrying a child patient and five others crashed into a Philadelphia neighborhood, killing all aboard and injuring 19 people. The crash resulted in a massive fireball that engulfed several homes.
