What Happens in The Recruit Season 2? Noah Centineo Breaks Down the Finale

Noah Centineo, along with creator Alexi Hawley and co-star Teo Yoo, shares insights into the dramatic Season 2 finale of The Recruit.

In an interview with Tudum, Centineo reflects on Owen Hendricks’ chaotic journey, particularly in the finale, where Owen has no clue how many times he’s disavowed by the American government. “Isn’t that crazy? He doesn’t know — he’s just doing his thing,” Centineo laughs.

The final moments of Episode 6 see Owen’s plan unexpectedly succeed. The action takes the group to Vladivostok, Russia, a perilous location so risky that the U.S. government wants no part of the mission. But it's where Nan Hee (Sanghee Lee), the pregnant wife of NIS agent and Season 2 graymailer Jang Kyun (Teo Yoo), is being held. So Owen, Jang Kyun, Lester (Colton Dunn), and Owen’s love interest, Yoo Jin (Shin Do-hyun), hijack a boat and venture into dangerous territory to rescue her.

Owen manages to rescue both Nan Hee and an abducted Jang Kyun from Russian intelligence. But first, he must jump off a yacht, kill a soldier on a houseboat, survive a shootout with the unpredictable Nichka (Maddie Hasson), locate Jang Kyun and Nan Hee in a heavily guarded base, and swim them to safety. After successfully completing all these tasks, an American Navy submarine arrives just in time to escort everyone to safety. According to Centineo, the finale was directed by Alexi Hawley, and he describes it as a “pressure cooker” of an episode.

"It was so insanely fun to film,” Centineo shares. “Owen goes through it. You’ve never seen him take a beating like this before. He takes more of a beating in Episode 6 than in the first season and the rest of the second season combined. I don’t think we could have pulled it off without Alexi at the helm.”
