Rapper YFN Lucci Released from Prison After Nearly Four Years

Rapper YFN Lucci has been freed from prison after serving nearly four years.

The 33-year-old artist, whose real name is Rayshawn Lamar Bennett, was released from the Burruss Correctional Training Center in Monroe County on Friday. He was met by his parents, children, close friends, and members of his music team, according to a press release.

In a statement, Lucci reflected on his time in prison, saying, "I’ve learned a lot during my time away," and expressed gratitude to those who supported him throughout his ordeal. He also shared his excitement about returning to his music career, adding, “Now, it’s my turn to give back."

Lucci expressed a desire to use his platform to inspire others, stating, “I want to show people it’s never too late to make a change. For me, this time is about growth, redemption, and purpose. I’m excited—there’s so much more to come.”

The rapper had been incarcerated following a 2021 indictment on charges including murder, assault, and racketeering. However, 12 of the 13 charges against him were dropped as part of a plea deal. Lucci pled guilty to one count of violating Georgia’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, resulting in a 10-year prison sentence, with an additional 10 years of probation.

His legal team confirmed his early release on parole, noting, “Rayshawn Bennett, widely known as YFN Lucci, was granted early release on parole and walked out of prison this morning to dozens of waiting friends and family.”

The statement continued, “He is overjoyed to reunite with his children, his family, and his music. He will waste no time releasing new music and getting back on stage to perform for his fans.”

Girvan "Fly" Henry, CEO of Think It’s A Game Records, also celebrated Lucci’s release, saying the label was "beyond thrilled" to have him back.
