Coin Frontman Announces Disbandment After "Revelations" About Bandmates

Chase Lawrence, the frontman and keyboardist for Nashville pop-rock band Coin, has announced that the group will no longer continue following recent “revelations” about his bandmates.

Lawrence shared the “heartbreaking” news on the band's official Instagram on Tuesday, January 28.

"I’ve recently become aware of revelations regarding my bandmates and felt it was important to address this directly with all of you," Lawrence wrote. "I believe in accountability and doing what’s right."

Earlier this month, Coin revealed they would be going on tour without drummer Ryan Winnen, who left to "focus on personal matters." However, it seems Lawrence has now also ended his partnership with guitarist Joe Memmel.

"Three months ago, I decided to move forward without my drummer, and yesterday, I parted ways with my guitarist," Lawrence explained. "Their actions directly conflict with my values, and I am deeply sorry for anyone who has been hurt by their behavior."

He added, "Creating a space for love and joy through music has always been my mission. Discovering that this space has been compromised is truly heartbreaking."

Lawrence continued by announcing that Coin could no longer continue as a band. He apologized to fans for the "disappointment this may bring" and expressed gratitude for their support over the years.

"Refunds for the upcoming tour are available at the point of purchase," he noted, ending on a hopeful note. "There’s a lot to figure out about the future, but I know I’m not done making music yet."

Lawrence did not provide further details about the nature of the revelations concerning his bandmates.

In response to the news, many fans shared their sadness about the band's breakup. One fan wrote, "Really sad I never got to see COIN in person. But Chase, your music has meant so much to me over the years. I’ll be following whatever is next, wishing you the best." Another fan added, "Coin breaking up wasn’t on the 2025 bingo card. Thanks for the amazing vibes your music brought."

"I’m literally heartbroken," a third fan commented. "Coin has been my favorite band for seven years, but I’m proud of your decision to stick to your morals. Can’t wait to see what you do next, Chase."

Coin was formed in 2012 by Lawrence, Winnen, Memmel, and bassist Zachary Dyke, who left the group in 2018 to pursue a career as an audio producer/engineer. The band is best known for hits like "Talk Too Much" and "Malibu 1992" from their 2017 album How Will You Know If You Never Try, as well as "Crash My Car" from their 2020 album Dreamland.
