Gracie Madigan Abrams (born September 7, 1999) is an American singer-songwriter. She gained recognition after signing with Interscope Records in 2019 and releasing her debut EP Minor (2020) and its follow-up This Is What It Feels Like (2021), which included the hit single "I Miss You, I'm Sorry". In 2023, she released her debut album Good Riddance, which earned her a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. She also opened for Taylor Swift on the Eras Tour.

In 2023, she featured on the remix of Noah Kahan's song "Everywhere, Everything", marking her first appearance on the US Billboard Hot 100. Her second album, The Secret of Us (2024), was a commercial and critical success, debuting at number two on the US Billboard 200. The album was supported by singles like "I Love You, I'm Sorry", "Close to You", and "That's So True", with the latter peaking at number six on the Hot 100.

Early Life and Education
Gracie Abrams was born in Los Angeles, California, to filmmaker J. J. Abrams and producer Katie McGrath. Her paternal family is Jewish, and her maternal side is Irish Catholic. She has two brothers, Henry and August. Abrams developed an interest in music early on, beginning songwriting at the age of eight. She attended The Archer School for Girls in Los Angeles, then went on to study international relations at Barnard College in New York but dropped out after her freshman year to pursue music.

Career
In 2019, Abrams released her debut single "Mean It" under Interscope Records. In July 2020, she followed up with her first EP, Minor, which featured collaborations with producers Joel Little and Blake Slatkin. The EP included the successful single "I Miss You, I'm Sorry". In 2021, she released the EP This Is What It Feels Like, which was preceded by singles like "Feels Like" and "Rockland". To promote the EP, she toured in 2022, including an opening spot on Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour Tour. She also released the single "Difficult" in October 2022, a preview of her debut album.

In February 2023, Abrams released Good Riddance, with a deluxe edition following in June. Throughout 2023, she opened for Taylor Swift on select dates of the Eras Tour and embarked on her own Good Riddance Tour. She was also featured on the soundtrack for The Buccaneers with her song "Cedar". In December 2023, Abrams featured on a remix of "Everywhere, Everything" by Noah Kahan, marking her first appearance on the Billboard Hot 100.

Her second album, The Secret of Us, was released in June 2024. The album's first single, "Risk", came out in May 2024, followed by "Close to You" in June. The album featured a collaboration with Taylor Swift on the track "Us", which was nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards. Abrams also toured in support of the album in late 2024.

Abrams cites a range of artists as influences, including Joni Mitchell, Simon & Garfunkel, Bon Iver, and Taylor Swift, among others. Her music blends pop, folk-pop, and indie pop styles.

Activism
Gracie Abrams has used her platform to advocate for various causes. In 2020, she expressed that her music reflects her views on important issues. In response to the leaked draft opinion on the potential overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022, Abrams was among many artists who signed a petition in The New York Times opposing the decision. She also released a limited-edition T-shirt with proceeds benefiting the National Network of Abortion Funds.

In the 2024 US presidential election, Abrams endorsed Kamala Harris and performed at a rally in Wisconsin.
