Joni Mitchell captivated the audience at the FireAid Benefit Concert on Thursday night, proving that age hasn't diminished her remarkable stage presence.

Seated in a plush gold chair, Mitchell, 81, sang a heartfelt rendition of "Both Sides Now" into a golden microphone, moving the crowd to tears. She wore a brown draped dress with a matching hat, paired with her signature sunglasses and a cane, exuding grace and elegance.

Though Mitchell has only made a few public performances in recent years, her appearance at the 2024 Grammy Awards garnered a standing ovation from the star-studded crowd. Her performance of the 1969 classic was a fitting tribute for the emotional event, which aimed to raise funds for those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires in January.

The evening kicked off with comedian Billy Crystal, who shared his personal experience of losing his home in the blaze. "These are the clothes I wore as I fled my house with my wife Janice," he said, choking up. "I fell to my knees—I hadn’t cried like that since I was 15 and my father had just died."

Green Day opened the night with an energetic performance, joined by Billie Eilish for a duet of "Last Night on Earth." "We’re still alive, this is California, and we’re all in this together," said frontman Billie Joe Armstrong. "From the bottom of our hearts, we love you, Los Angeles, and we’ve got your back no matter what."

Throughout the night, performances were intertwined with poignant stories from fire survivors, including a Los Angeles firefighter who shared his firsthand account of the devastation. Other memorable moments included Alanis Morissette’s performances of "Hand in My Pocket" and "Thank U," and Pink’s heartfelt rendition of "What About Us," followed by words of comfort for the people of LA.

Other stars, such as Jessica Alba, Samuel L. Jackson, Rod Stewart, and Dr. Dre, attended in support of the event. U2 made a significant contribution, donating $1 million toward fire relief.

All proceeds from the concert will go directly to fire relief efforts and future prevention initiatives. Upcoming performances include Lady Gaga, Olivia Rodrigo, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stevie Nicks, Jelly Roll, Sting, and John Mayer, with the show split between two venues—the Kia Forum in Inglewood and the Intuit Dome.
