Two Teenagers Killed in Connection to Lil Baby Music Video Shoot

Atlanta police have arrested seven gang members in connection with the shooting deaths of two teenagers last summer in Oakland City.

Jakody Davis and Lamon Freeman, both 13, were outside their apartment on Sparks Street celebrating Freeman’s birthday when they were caught in the crossfire between rival gangs. Davis' younger brother was also injured but survived.

The shooting is believed to have been linked to gang violence stemming from a music video shoot by Atlanta rapper Lil Baby, whose real name is Dominique Jones. Although Atlanta police officials did not name Jones during a press conference on February 26, he is referenced in the arrest warrants of the seven individuals now charged with murder.

APD Maj. Ralph Woolfolk stated that the teens' deaths resulted from "cowardly acts" by an Atlanta-based rapper who filmed a music video in a rival gang stronghold. The shooting, which took place during a May 2024 video shoot, also resulted in three men being shot, leading to a violent feud between the Goodfellas street gang and a rival group. Woolfolk declined to name the opposing gang, citing the ongoing investigation.

According to arrest warrants, the murder of the teens was planned using a contraband cell phone by a gang leader already imprisoned at Hancock State Prison.

The investigation was supported by the FBI and wiretap evidence, which helped identify some of the seven suspects arrested.

The individuals arrested are Quiyontay Sanders, Richard Hollis, Reginald Thomas, Dekeitheon Mobley, Ali Caldwell, and brothers Markus and Tradon Crawford. Police have indicated that more arrests are expected and that a $50,000 reward is still available for information on the case.

Lil Baby, who recently released his fourth album, WHAM, has announced a world tour beginning in June.
