Despite playing part of a love triangle on-screen, Joey King and Taylor Zakhar Perez are real-life friends.
At the 2025 SAG Awards, Joey King bumped into her former The Kissing Booth co-star, Taylor Zakhar Perez. The duo starred together in The Kissing Booth 2 (2020) and The Kissing Booth 3 (2021), where they portrayed friends and love interests in a storyline that also involved Jacob Elordi as Noah Flynn. Off-screen, however, the two have maintained a close friendship.
King shared with Variety, "Last year I was his plus one, and so this year he's mine. We really support each other, and we lift each other up. It’s nice having each other at events like this, especially since I’m presenting tonight and feeling a bit nervous. He’s been so sweet."
King is presenting the award for Best Male Actor in a Comedy Series. She previously won a SAG Award in 2020 for her role in The Act. Perez, who served as a SAG Ambassador in 2024, reflected on their time working together during the COVID-19 pandemic, saying, "We didn’t have premieres or anything exciting for The Kissing Booth 2 and 3, so we've just been celebrating together."
The two remain close, with Perez mentioning attending King's wedding to producer and director Steven Piet in 2023 in Mallorca, Spain. He described the event as a "class act."
