Aimee Lou Wood

Aimee Lou Wood (born 3 February 1995) is an English actress known for her work in both television and theatre. She made her stage debut in 2016, appearing in Mary Stuart and People, Places and Things. Wood gained widespread recognition for her role as Aimee Gibbs in the Netflix series Sex Education (2019-2023), for which she won the British Academy Television Award for Best Female Comedy Performance in 2021.

In addition to her television success, Wood has appeared in films such as The Electrical Life of Louis Wain (2021) and Living (2022), and she took on notable stage roles in Uncle Vanya (2020) and Cabaret (2023). She also stars in the third season of HBO's The White Lotus (2025).

Born in Stockport, Greater Manchester, Wood was raised in Bramhall and attended Cheadle Hulme School before studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), graduating in 2017. She began her professional acting career with stage roles before transitioning to screen work.

Wood has also been involved in other projects, including narrating an audiobook of Wuthering Heights (2020) and joining the jury for the British Short Film Awards in 2021. She was previously in a relationship with her Sex Education co-star Connor Swindells.

Throughout her career, Wood has been open about her struggles with body dysmorphia and has used her platform to discuss body image issues. She is also known for her activism, having signed an open letter calling for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas conflict in 2023.
