Wendy Williams Taken to Hospital After Sending Note Requesting Help
Wendy Williams was transported to a hospital on Monday morning after reportedly sending a handwritten note asking for assistance. According to police sources, authorities were called for a wellness check at around 11:15 a.m. after Williams threw a note from her fifth-floor room at her New York assisted living facility. The note read, "Help! Wendy!!"
Police officers arrived at the scene and helped escort Williams into an awaiting ambulance, which took her to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
In a statement to the Daily Beast, the NYPD confirmed that they responded to a welfare check at the location of Williams' facility. They added that emergency medical services transported a 60-year-old female to a hospital for evaluation.
Williams has been residing in the facility's memory unit as she continues to challenge the conservatorship she has been under since 2022.
Her court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morissey, has stated in legal filings that Williams is “permanently incapacitated” due to her diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia and aphasia. However, Williams has consistently denied these claims, insisting that she is mentally capable. In a recent interview with The Breakfast Club, she expressed feeling "like she's in prison" and isolated. She also appeared in the documentary TMZ Presents: Saving Wendy last month, where she reaffirmed that she is being kept in the memory unit against her wishes.
In the documentary, Williams shared her discomfort, saying, “Where I am is this place where the people are older. You know what I’m saying? They are in their 90s. In their 80s. They call this the memory unit. I am part of the memory unit, a memory unit! In other words, somebody who doesn’t remember c--p? Are you serious? This is my life.”
She further explained her frustration, stating, "The memory unit is suffocating. I mean, like I literally, I eat lunch and dinner in my bedroom. I don’t eat out there with the people that live here, just because it’s so goddamn depressing. There’s a bathroom, there’s a closet, and the TV, which was purchased by me through the guardian person.”
