In the Champions Trophy 2025 final between India and New Zealand, Glenn Phillips produced a moment of magic to bring the Kiwis back into the contest. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill were comfortably chasing 252, having built a solid 100+ partnership for the opening wicket. But Phillips, the standout fielder of the tournament, pulled off an incredible catch to dismiss Shubman Gill, breaking the partnership and giving New Zealand their first breakthrough.

On the fourth ball of the 19th over, with Mitchell Santner bowling, Gill drove a well-flighted delivery towards cover. The ball seemed destined to race away, but Phillips had other plans. In a breathtaking display of athleticism, he leaped into the air and snatched the ball one-handed, leaving Gill shocked. The catch sent Gill back to the pavilion for 31 runs off 50 balls.

This remarkable catch was Phillips' third stunning grab of the Champions Trophy 2025. Earlier, he had taken brilliant catches to dismiss Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan and India’s Virat Kohli.

Phillips was visibly pleased with his effort, and his incredible fielding helped shift momentum back in New Zealand's favour, ending India's solid 105-run opening stand.
