Mirra Andreeva stuns Iga Swiatek to become the youngest to reach the Indian Wells final in 24 years

Seventeen-year-old Mirra Andreeva defeated World No. 2 Iga Swiatek 7-6 (1), 1-6, 6-3 to secure a spot in the 2025 Indian Wells final. The Russian teen sensation's remarkable run includes victories over top players such as Elena Rybakina and Elina Svitolina earlier in the tournament.

Andreeva’s win marks her second consecutive final appearance in a WTA 1000 event, following her triumph in Dubai earlier this year. After clinching the semifinal spot, she became the youngest player to reach the Indian Wells final since Kim Clijsters in 2001. This victory also adds to her impressive 2025 record, with another win over Swiatek, following their previous encounter in Dubai.

Despite a dominant first set, Andreeva struggled in the second, but made a strong comeback in the third, eventually securing the win. "After she killed me in the second set, I just told myself to fight for every point. In the end, it worked out," Andreeva said after the match.

Coached by former Wimbledon champion Conchita Martinez, Andreeva will now face World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the final. Sabalenka defeated Madison Keys 6-0, 6-1 in the other semifinal. Andreeva, who won her first WTA title in February, is now on the verge of claiming back-to-back WTA 1000 titles.
