Ted Lasso fans, rejoice—Season 4 is officially happening! Jason Sudeikis returns, joined by Jack Burditt as executive producer, promising more heart, humor, and intense football drama.

After Season 3 aired, Sudeikis had stated that Ted Lasso was always intended to be a three-season story. He even mentioned in 2023 that it was “the end of the story we wanted to tell.” However, given the overwhelming fan demand for more, Sudeikis now reveals that the story isn’t over. In a recent press release, he teased, “In season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to ‘leap before they look,’ discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”

What’s Official About Season 4?

According to Matt Cherniss, head of programming at Apple TV+, “Ted Lasso has been nothing short of a juggernaut,” and they’re thrilled to continue working with Sudeikis and the talented creative team behind the show. While no full cast list has been confirmed yet, it’s expected that key characters like Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift will reprise their roles.

Jack Burditt, known for Nobody Wants This, Modern Family, and 30 Rock, will serve as executive producer, alongside Sudeikis, who will also take on the role of executive producer for the season.

Sudeikis also teased a major plot point during his appearance on the New Heights podcast with Travis Kelce and his brother Jason. He revealed that in the upcoming season, Ted will be coaching a women’s football team. "We’re writing Season 4 now, that’s the official word," he said, "Ted’s coaching a women’s team."

During the Banff World Media Festival in June 2024, Warner Bros. TV boss Channing Dungey emphasized that they’re not rushing to create more seasons or spinoffs for Ted Lasso. The priority is to ensure they’re telling a story they’re passionate about. Bill Lawrence, co-creator of the show, also noted in August 2024 that any decision to continue beyond Season 4 depends largely on Sudeikis, as he is both the star and the head writer, balancing the demands of his personal life with the show’s production.

Season 3 Recap

Season 3 wrapped up many storylines while leaving room for new adventures. Ted returned to the U.S. to spend more time with his son, Henry, leading to an emotional farewell with his players. Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) became the new manager of AFC Richmond, ready to lead the team into its next chapter. Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) decided not to sell the team, realizing its significance to both her and the community. Keeley (Juno Temple) focused on launching her PR firm, with a possible women’s team in the works. The love triangle between Keeley, Roy, and Jamie (Phil Dunster) remained unresolved.
