Elon Musk and US Senator Mark Kelly exchanged harsh words on social media on Monday after Kelly shared an image from his recent visit to Ukraine amid the ongoing war with Russia. Kelly, a former NASA astronaut and Navy pilot, highlighted his continued support for Ukraine. Musk, a close advisor to former President Donald Trump, responded by calling the Arizona Democrat a "traitor."

Kelly, who served in combat missions during Operation Desert Storm, fired back at Musk, defending his stance on supporting Ukraine. "Traitor? Elon, if you don’t understand that defending freedom is a basic tenet of what makes America great and keeps us safe, maybe you should leave it to those of us who do," Kelly wrote on X.

This exchange follows Kelly's third visit to Ukraine within a year, during which he met with Ukraine’s deputy minister of defense and toured defense industry sites. The visit comes at a time when US-Ukraine relations have been strained, particularly after a recent tense meeting between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Oval Office.

As leaders from both nations prepare to meet in Saudi Arabia this week to discuss potential peace talks with Russia, the back-and-forth between Musk and Democratic lawmakers has intensified, fueled by recent moves from the Trump administration to cut federal agencies and lay off employees.
