"That's my guy," Bassett said of Lee before announcing his commitment. "I've looked up to him since I was young."
Bassett, who wrestles for Bishop McCort High School (PA), joins his teammate Owen McMullen in Iowa’s 2026 class, which could expand even further, as another of his high school teammates, Jax Forrest (a U17 World Medalist and Olympic Team Trials qualifier), is also an Iowa target.
"Pretty excited to come out in Carver-Hawkeye Arena for the first time and hopefully create a legacy that lasts forever," Bassett said. "It wasn’t an easy decision, but I think it was the right one. You get what you earn, so I’m excited to be a Hawk."
