USPS Suspends Acceptance of International Packages from China Amid Rising Tariff Disputes

The United States Postal Service (USPS) has temporarily stopped accepting international packages from China and Hong Kong, effective February 4. This suspension only applies to parcels, with the delivery of letters and flats remaining unaffected. The decision comes amid escalating trade tensions between the U.S. and China, particularly after both nations imposed tariffs on each other.

Last weekend, President Donald Trump announced a 25% tariff on goods from China, Mexico, and Canada, though negotiations have led to a temporary delay for Mexico and Canada. In response, China imposed additional tariffs on U.S. goods, further intensifying the trade conflict.

The White House has confirmed that President Trump will soon hold a phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping to discuss ongoing trade issues. Meanwhile, Mexico and Canada have agreed to a 30-day suspension of U.S. tariffs, with pledges to work together on border enforcement related to drug trafficking and migration.
