Trump Says US "Will Take Over Gaza Strip" After Meeting With Netanyahu

Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that the United States plans to "take over and own" the Gaza Strip. He emphasized that the U.S. would manage the area and be responsible for clearing dangerous unexploded bombs and weapons. During a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump also mentioned that the U.S. would focus on rebuilding the region after the destruction.

In their private discussions, both leaders addressed strategies to eliminate Hamas and restore peace to the region. Trump criticized his predecessor, Joe Biden, for not taking action in the Middle East during his tenure, claiming that no progress had been made.

Trump also asserted that Egypt and Jordan would eventually accept Palestinian refugees from Gaza, dismissing their objections to such an agreement.

Since returning to the White House, this was Trump's first meeting with a foreign leader. During the press conference, he raised the possibility of reconsidering an independent Palestine as part of a potential two-state solution, acknowledging that circumstances had changed since his previous proposal in 2020.
