g Sharpe inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame

Sterling Sharpe inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame

Sterling Sharpe has been officially inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The Class of 2025, consisting of four legendary figures in football, was announced during the "NFL Honors, presented by Invisalign," a primetime awards special broadcast on NFL Network, FOX, and NFL+. The newest Hall of Fame members are defensive back Eric Allen, defensive end Jared Allen, tight end Antonio Gates, and wide receiver Sterling Sharpe.

Sharpe joins his brother Shannon Sharpe as the first siblings to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Other father-son pairs in the Hall include Tim and Wellington Mara, Art Sr. and Dan Rooney, and Ed and Steve Sabol.

The 2025 class, the smallest since 2005, follows a historical pattern as it marks the 19th instance of a class with three or four inductees since the Hall’s inception in 1970. Eric Allen and Jared Allen learned of their election via surprise knocks at their doors, while Gates and Sharpe experienced a “reverse knock,” where a Hall of Famer delivered the good news in person. These moments will be featured in a special, “The Hall of Fame Knocks: Class of 2025,” airing on NFL Network on February 8 at 10 p.m. ET.

The individuals who shared the news with the newest inductees include Randall McDaniel (Eric Allen’s college teammate), Steve Hutchinson (Jared Allen’s pro teammate), LaDainian Tomlinson (Antonio Gates’ pro teammate), and Shannon Sharpe (Sterling Sharpe’s brother).

This selection marks the culmination of a comprehensive process that saw the Hall of Fame Selection Committee narrow down the candidates from an initial list of 167 nominees. The final list of inductees was determined after thorough reviews by the Selection Committee and specialized subcommittees for coaches, contributors, and senior candidates. The process was audited by Ernst & Young LLP, ensuring transparency and accuracy in the voting.

The Class of 2025 will be enshrined on August 2, 2025, at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. Tickets for the enshrinement ceremony will be available soon, and weekend packages are already on sale through On Location.
