Battlefield Labs

How to Gain Early Access to the New Battlefield: Sign Up for the Test Program

EA and DICE have introduced Battlefield Labs, a community-driven test program for the upcoming Battlefield game. This initiative aims to fine-tune the new title based on player feedback, following the underwhelming reception of Battlefield 2042 in 2021.

Along with Battlefield Labs, EA has launched Battlefield Studios, a collaboration between four key development teams—DICE, Ripple Effect, Criterion, and Motive—to shape the future of the franchise. DICE is handling multiplayer development, Motive is working on single-player content and maps, Ripple Effect is creating a new, unannounced Battlefield experience, and Criterion is supporting single-player development. EA also shared a glimpse of early Battlefield gameplay, showcasing pre-alpha footage at the end of a video.

How to Sign Up for Battlefield Labs

Anyone can sign up for Battlefield Labs, but only a select few will be chosen to participate. The test is currently available to players in North America and Europe, with more regions to be added later. Initially, the program will involve "a few thousand" testers, with plans to expand to "tens of thousands." Both Battlefield veterans and newcomers will be included in the test.

Test participants will have the opportunity to play an early version of the upcoming game, offering valuable feedback to DICE to improve its development. The test will span across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.

"Battlefield Labs is our most ambitious community collaboration in franchise history," said DICE. "We want to build Battlefield with our community, creating a space for testing concepts and mechanics before they go public. Our community's feedback is vital in helping us prioritize improvements and deliver an authentic Battlefield experience."

The first Battlefield Labs test will begin soon. EA noted that sessions will not follow a fixed schedule but will be timed to suit players from different regions. Participants will be notified of testing sessions in advance.

Content in the test will include early concept tests with rough edges, bugs, and crashes. EA emphasized that feedback from the community will help guide important decisions on what to prioritize in development.

Expect to test key features such as core combat, destruction mechanics, weapon balance, and iconic modes like Conquest and Breakthrough. Players will also get to explore changes to the class system, enhancing strategic gameplay.

Testers will submit feedback through a private Discord channel, and EA will release public updates on the changes made based on this input. Anyone invited to the test will need to sign an NDA, preventing them from sharing footage or discussing the early version of the game.

The upcoming Battlefield game will return to modern settings after Battlefield 2042 ventured into the future.
