Former WWE NXT Tag Champion, FKA Fandango, Makes Unexpected Return to Challenge Heritage Cup Holder

Former WWE NXT Tag Champion, FKA Fandango, Makes Unexpected Return to Challenge Heritage Cup Holder

Former WWE NXT Tag Team Champion and current TNA star JDC, previously known as Fandango, made a surprising return on WWE NXT. He interrupted Lexis King's promo and issued a challenge for the Heritage Cup, set to take place on next week's show.

King had just emerged to boast about retaining his title over Charlie Dempsey under British Rounds Rules two weeks ago. He announced that, moving forward, he would no longer be defending his title with those rules, opting instead for single-fall matches similar to his previous defense against Dempsey at New Year's Evil. His next challenger, JDC, was making his return to the brand where he won his only title—NXT Tag Team Champion in 2020, alongside Tyler Breeze. This was at the tail end of his 15-year tenure with WWE, which he left in 2021.

JDC first debuted on the main roster by defeating Chris Jericho at WrestleMania 29. He later claimed that he was set to win the Intercontinental Championship shortly after, but an undisclosed concussion derailed those plans, leading to backstage heat. After his departure from WWE, JDC competed on the independent circuit, including stints in NWA and GCW under the name "Dirty Dango." He rejoined TNA in 2022 after previously appearing with the company between 2002 and 2004 as Johnny Curtis, combining both personas into JDC (Johnny "Dango" Curtis). He joined The System in June 2024.
