Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys, born Alicia Augello Cook on January 25, 1981, in New York City, is a renowned American singer, songwriter, and classically trained pianist. Starting to compose at 12, she was signed by Columbia Records at 15 but later left after disputes to sign with J Records. Her debut album Songs in A Minor (2001) achieved critical acclaim, selling over 12 million copies worldwide and winning five Grammy Awards, including the hit single "Fallin'." Her second album, The Diary of Alicia Keys (2003), sold eight million copies globally and earned her four more Grammys.

Keys continued her success with albums like Unplugged (2005), which debuted at the top of the Billboard 200, and As I Am (2007), which featured the number-one single "No One." She also made her film debut in Smokin' Aces (2007) and performed the theme song for Quantum of Solace (2008).

Her fifth album, Girl on Fire (2012), and her subsequent work, including Here (2016) and Alicia (2020), continued her success. Her most recent release, Santa Baby (2022), is her first independent album, marking a new chapter in her career.

With over 90 million records sold, Keys is one of the best-selling music artists worldwide and has won 16 Grammy Awards among other accolades. Apart from her music career, she is also celebrated for her philanthropy, activism, and co-founding the nonprofit organization Keep a Child Alive.

Born to a multiracial family in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan, Keys had a challenging upbringing marked by exposure to street violence and hardship, which shaped her resilience and outlook on life. Her mother’s support and dedication to her upbringing played a crucial role in her development both as a person and an artist. Keys was involved in music from a young age, learning classical piano and writing songs, which later helped define her unique style.
