A video of YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia being escorted by Assam police has gone viral. The footage, taken on Friday, shows Allahbadia being pushed and pulled by officers as they escort him up a flight of stairs during his questioning by the Guwahati police. This questioning is part of the ongoing investigation into Allahbadia's remarks on Samay Raina’s YouTube show, India’s Got Latent.
Allahbadia, who arrived in Guwahati the night before, underwent more than four hours of questioning by the Crime Branch. He was accompanied by his lawyer during the interrogation.
Joint Commissioner Ankur Jain, who oversaw the police team, confirmed that Allahbadia fully cooperated and answered all the questions. Jain further stated that Allahbadia has pledged to continue cooperating with the investigation and will return to Guwahati if necessary.
The investigation follows Allahbadia's controversial comments on India’s Got Latent, which led to public outrage. Several FIRs have been filed against him across the country, mainly for his remarks about parents and sex. On February 10, Guwahati police registered a case under various legal provisions, including the IT Act and the Cinematograph Act.
Despite the Supreme Court granting Allahbadia interim protection from arrest, the court criticized his comments as "vulgar," calling them indicative of a "dirty mind" that brings shame to society.
The case remains under investigation, with other individuals involved, including comedian Samay Raina, and YouTubers Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija. Additionally, the owner of the venue where the show was filmed has also been named in the FIR.
