FBI Offers $10 Million Reward for Ex-Olympic Snowboarder Turned Drug Kingpin

Ryan Wedding, 43, sought for involvement in billion-dollar cross-border drug operation and multiple homicides

The FBI has announced a $10 million reward for information leading to the arrest of Ryan Wedding, a former Olympic snowboarder turned international drug kingpin.

Los Angeles authorities confirmed on Thursday that Wedding, also known by aliases such as “El Jefe,” “Giant,” and “Public Enemy,” is wanted for his role in running a billion-dollar drug trafficking network across borders and for his involvement in several murders linked to his extensive narcotics operation.

The 43-year-old, who is listed among the FBI’s top 10 most-wanted fugitives, is believed to be hiding in Mexico with the protection of the notorious Sinaloa cartel, officials said.

“The increase in the reward should make it clear: there is nowhere safe for Wedding to hide,” said Alan Hamilton, deputy chief of the LAPD.

Wedding, originally from Thunder Bay, Ontario, competed for Canada in the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics, where he finished 24th in the parallel giant slalom event.

In 2006, he was named in a warrant related to a marijuana-growing operation in British Columbia but was never charged. Four years later, Wedding was convicted of drug trafficking after attempting to buy cocaine from a U.S. government agent, receiving a four-year prison sentence.

At the time, he was dubbed an “Olympic hopeful” by the media and claimed that U.S. authorities had used a “violent former KGB agent” as an undercover operative, alleging “outrageous conduct.”

However, Wedding later rose to prominence as a dangerous and influential drug trafficker.

In 2024, he was charged by the U.S. Department of Justice for leading a criminal group involved in cocaine trafficking and multiple murders, including those of innocent civilians.

Wedding’s operation allegedly involved smuggling hundreds of kilograms of cocaine from Colombia through Mexico, southern California, and into Canada. Additionally, police revealed that Wedding’s cartel transported up to five metric tons of fentanyl each month to various cities in both the U.S. and Canada.

Wedding and his associate, Andrew Clark, are also accused of orchestrating murders to eliminate rivals, including a man shot dead in his car due to drug debts. In another instance, two victims were mistakenly killed in a retaliation attack over a stolen drug shipment.

One of the most tragic incidents occurred in 2023, when gunmen attacked a rental home in Caledon, Ontario, killing Jagtar Singh Sidhu, 57, and his wife Harbhajan Kaur Sidhu, 55. Their daughter, Jaspreet Kaur Sidhu, was severely wounded after being shot 13 times.

Of the 16 suspects linked to the operation, Wedding and one other remain at large.

Clark was arrested by Mexican authorities on October 8, 2024, and was extradited to the U.S. on February 27.
