Super Bowl LIX Champion Eagles and Their Strong Connections to Palm Beach

Super Bowl LIX Champion Eagles and Their Strong Connections to Palm Beach

The Philadelphia Eagles are once again Super Bowl champions, following their dominant 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on January 9 in New Orleans. While the team's triumph sparked celebrations in Philadelphia, the Eagles also have notable ties to Palm Beach, largely thanks to majority owner Jeffrey Lurie.

Lurie, known for spending time at his Palm Beach estate along the Intracoastal Waterway, has a property located just a quarter-mile south of The Mar-a-Lago Club, former President Donald Trump's residence.

In addition to Lurie, other prominent figures with strong Philadelphia connections also call Palm Beach home. Among them are Hollywood legend Sylvester Stallone, famed for his portrayal of Rocky Balboa, whose character made the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s iconic steps famous, and John S. Middleton, principal owner of the Philadelphia Phillies.

Jeffrey Lurie’s Palm Beach Estate Faces a Bird Sanctuary
Lurie is part of the exclusive group of billionaires with residences in Palm Beach, joining over 65 other wealthy individuals who have ties to the area.

His vacation home, located on Billionaires Row along South Ocean Boulevard, offers views of the Intracoastal Waterway. The mansion, purchased for $28.75 million in 2013, is a fitting retreat for Lurie, whose net worth, according to Forbes, is an estimated $5.3 billion. The property was acquired by Lurie’s ownership company six months after his marriage to Tina Lai. The previous year, Lurie and his former wife, Lori Christina Weiss, divorced, with Weiss retaining a minority stake in the Eagles as part of the settlement. Lurie, however, holds an 85% ownership share.

The nearly 2-acre estate, completed in 2008, stretches across 185 feet of waterfront and includes 17,113 square feet of living space, both indoors and outdoors, according to property records. The design of the home prioritizes entertaining, with expansive open-air loggias, one featuring a fireplace.

The property also boasts a dock and faces an island in the Intracoastal Waterway that is designated as an Audubon bird sanctuary—quite fitting for the owner of the Eagles.

While the home’s amenities haven’t been fully disclosed, it’s worth noting that Lurie’s grandfather, Philip Smith, founded the General Cinema theater chain, which later became Harcourt General. Lurie himself, a former college professor with a doctorate in social policy from Boston University, purchased the Eagles in 1994 for a reported $195 million, with a $190 million loan from his mother.
