Jadon Sancho, currently on loan at Chelsea from Manchester United, has been told that his recent actions may have jeopardized his career after making a "ridiculous" mistake.

Since joining Chelsea last summer, Sancho has had a mixed stint, showing occasional flashes of his potential but failing to make a significant impact, scoring only twice since his move. The 24-year-old, who was signed by Manchester United in 2021 for over £70 million, struggled to find consistent form at Old Trafford before moving to Stamford Bridge.

However, it was a social media post that caused a stir over the weekend. After Marcus Rashford, Sancho’s former United teammate, made his debut for Aston Villa in their FA Cup win over Tottenham, Sancho left a comment on Rashford’s Instagram post. Rashford had thanked Villa fans for their warm welcome, to which Sancho responded with just one word: "freedom," followed by a praying emoji. The comment quickly gained over 35,000 likes in just two days.

Ben Foster, a former Premier League goalkeeper, criticized the comment, calling it "ridiculous" given both Sancho and Rashford are still contracted to Manchester United. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Foster remarked, “It’s incredible considering he’s still employed by Manchester United... What is he doing?”

Foster added that the comment made by Sancho created an impression of negativity around United, calling it "toxic" and suggesting the club was an unhappy environment where everyone was eager for players to leave.

Former professional footballer Ben Tozer also expressed confusion over Sancho’s actions. He warned that such social media behavior could have lasting consequences on Sancho's career, with potential managers possibly seeing the comment as a sign of a bad attitude. "Other managers are going to be like, ‘I don’t like that attitude,'" Tozer said.

Sancho had joined Chelsea on loan with the option for a permanent transfer, but Rashford is expected to return to Manchester United at the end of the season.
