The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), led by Smriti Mandhana, made an impressive start to the 2025 Women's Premier League, defeating Gujarat Giants by six wickets at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. RCB achieved the highest-ever successful run chase in WPL history, setting a new record by chasing down 202 runs in just 19 overs. This victory marks the best possible start to the third edition of the tournament.

RCB's chase surpassed the previous record set by Mumbai Indians in 2024, who successfully chased 191 runs against Gujarat Giants.

Ellyse Perry contributed a crucial 57 runs off 34 balls for the defending champions, while Richa Ghosh and Kanika Ahuja played pivotal unbeaten knocks of 64 and 30, respectively. Their efforts secured the record-breaking chase.

This match also set a new benchmark for the highest match aggregate in WPL history, with both teams combining for 403 runs. Additionally, the 16 sixes hit during this game marked the second-highest total in WPL history, following the 19 sixes hit in the RCB vs Delhi Capitals match in 2024.

Kanika Ahuja and Richa Ghosh's unbeaten 93-run partnership is also the third-highest for RCB in WPL history.

Following the victory, RCB captain Smriti Mandhana expressed her joy and pride, acknowledging her team’s remarkable performance in executing a record chase.
