If you thought The Residence was just another political whodunit, think again. Shonda Rhimes’ latest Netflix show adds a dose of unexpected glam, courtesy of pop royalty Kylie Minogue. She sashays into the White House with a mission—because even during a murder investigation, some things just take priority.

Kylie, 56, plays a fictionalized version of herself attending a state dinner with the Australian government in attendance. When the president’s social secretary (played by Molly Griggs) drops the ball on booking a performer, Kylie—being Kylie—steps in to save the day. Her only demand? A stay in the luxurious Lincoln Bedroom. Diva move? Absolutely.

Her role, introduced in episode five, sees Kylie trying to work her charm to get upstairs, only to be humorously stopped by detective Cordelia Cupp (Uzo Aduba). Exhausted after an impromptu performance, she pleads with Cordelia to let her sneak away: “I wasn’t even supposed to be performing tonight,” she says, frustrated.

But Cordelia, ever cool, reminds her that there's an active crime scene in the house. To which Kylie, leaning into the drama, retorts, “But he’s dead, and I was promised the Lincoln Bedroom.” Yes, Kylie, we’re all on your side—justice for your beauty sleep!

Behind the camera, the cast was just as enchanted by Kylie as fans are. Randall Park, who plays FBI agent Edwin Park, admitted that seeing Kylie in person was “surreal,” noting that he didn’t realize how talented she was as an actress.

For pop culture fans, Kylie’s cameo isn’t the only celebrity shout-out in The Residence. The show casually drops names like Harry Styles and Cardi B, hinting at potential performances at the event. As for Hugh Jackman fans—sorry, he’s referenced but never actually appears.
