Gal Gadot's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony was interrupted by protests from both pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian demonstrators. The incident occurred just as the ceremony was about to begin on Tuesday, with several dozen protesters approaching the area. Pro-Palestinian demonstrators displayed signs such as "Heroes Fight Like Palestinians" and "Viva Viva Palestina," and reportedly took a flag from a pro-Israel supporter. The situation escalated, leading to a 15-minute delay in the proceedings, with police quickly intervening.
Gadot, born in Israel, has been an outspoken supporter of the country, particularly amid the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict. She served as a combat fitness instructor in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) at the age of 20, participating in the Israel-Lebanon War of 2006. After the October 7, 2023 attacks, Gadot expressed her support for Israel on Instagram, stating, “I stand with Israel, you should too. The world cannot sit on the fence when these horrific acts of terror are happening!” She later explained her stance, emphasizing that she felt compelled to speak out against the hate and misinformation surrounding the issue, especially as the granddaughter of a Holocaust survivor.
The protesters' chants were audible throughout the ceremony, which was attended by notable figures such as Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins and Fast & Furious star Vin Diesel. Gadot’s husband, Jaron Varsano, and their four daughters were also present for the event. When she took the stage, Gadot reflected on her humble origins, saying, "I'm just a girl from a town in Israel," and added that her star would remind her that with hard work, passion, and faith, anything is possible.
Earlier in the day, Gadot shared on The Drew Barrymore Show the health scare she experienced during her fourth pregnancy, revealing that she had suffered a blood clot in her brain while eight months pregnant. She recounted how doctors initially dismissed her symptoms, attributing them to a migraine, but it was later discovered to be life-threatening. Gadot urged women to always advocate for their health, stressing the importance of listening to one's body.
