Yella Beezy Arrested and Charged with Capital Murder in Connection with Rapper MO3’s Death

Markies Conway, better known as Yella Beezy, was arrested on Thursday and charged with felony murder in the 2020 killing of rapper MO3.

Beezy, known for his hit song "That's On Me," was taken into custody after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was booked into the Dallas County Jail on Thursday afternoon, according to records obtained by USA TODAY.

This arrest came two days after a grand jury charged Beezy with felony murder in connection with the death of MO3, who was fatally shot during a midday shooting on a Dallas highway in 2020.

Beezy, 33, was indicted on Tuesday with capital murder while remuneration, accused of conspiring with Kewon White to have MO3 killed in exchange for payment. The indictment claims that Beezy "intentionally and knowingly" participated in the death of MO3 (born Melvin Noble), and White carried out the shooting.

White was arrested a month after MO3's death and is currently serving a nine-year sentence for firearm-related charges.

In the shooting on November 11, 2020, MO3 was ambushed by White, who chased him on foot and fired multiple shots, fatally injuring the rapper. MO3, 28, was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. A bystander was also injured in the incident but survived.

Yella Beezy’s rise to fame came as a teenager when he started releasing mixtapes, with his big break coming in 2017 with his mixtape Lite Work, Vol. 2, which featured the successful track "That's On Me." The song peaked at No. 25 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and cracked the Hot 100. Beezy has since collaborated with major artists including Chris Brown, Ty Dolla $ign, Young Thug, and Gunna. His latest album, Bad Azz Yella Boy, was released in August 2022.
